Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, Meru Town Church, was founded in 1962 by missionaries Ensio and Eila Rajahalme, who were sent by the Pentecostal Church of Finland, Tampere. They were supported by African key figures, among them Ev. Nicodemus Ngucu, Rev. John Kariuki, Rev. Musa Kiruki, Retd. Bishop Reuben Thuranira, and Bishop Dr. David Kaibung’a. The other brethren who went to be with the Lord are Pastor Joseph Mbwiria, Pastor Tom Magiri, Pastor Luka Nkonge, Pastor Simeon Munyua, and Pastor Gibson Kathurima, among many others.

Former Sanctuary

The former sanctuary was built by Tampere Church in Finland, led by Missionary Pekka and Kerttu Ylenius, in 1982 with the support of the local members, and was officially dedicated in October 1983. FGCK Meru Town is a Pentecostal Church led by a Senior Pastor assisted by Assistant Pastors, Ordained Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses, and various Departmental Leaders.
Bishop Reuben Thuranira led FGCK-Meru Town LCA from 1982 until his retirement in 2014, after which Rev. Gerald Mugo took over as Senior Pastor.

Missionary Pekka Ylenius

Missionary Pekka Ylenius is a prominent figure known for his dedicated service as a Senior Pastor and Coordinator of Fida International, an esteemed Christian organization based in Finland. Retd. Bishop Reuben Thuranira Celebrating 60 Years of Victorious Christian Service & Church Ministry.

Late Emeritus Retd. Bishop Reuben Thuranira’s celebration of 60 years of Victorious Christian Service and Church Ministry is a momentous and joyous occasion for both him and the church community. This significant milestone marks six decades of devoted service, leadership, and impact within the church.

During these 60 years, Bishop Reuben Thuranira has undoubtedly touched the lives of countless individuals, both within the congregation and beyond, through his ministry. His dedication and commitment to serving God and His people have likely left a lasting legacy of faith, hope, and transformation.

The celebration is an opportunity for the church community to honor and express gratitude for Bishop Thuranira’s unwavering service and leadership. Members gathered together to share testimonies, stories, and memories of the many ways Bishop Thuranira has touched their lives.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for the broader community to acknowledge Bishop Thuranira’s contributions to society and the positive impact he has made over the years.

Consecration of Rev. Gerald Mugo into the office of Bishop

The consecration of Rev. Gerald Mugo into the office of Bishop was a significant event within the church community. Consecration is a formal and sacred ceremony in which a clergy member, in this case, Rev. Gerald Mugo, was set apart and ordained as a Bishop to take on leadership responsibilities within the church.

During the consecration service, Rev. Gerald Mugo made solemn vows and commitments to faithfully serve and lead the church according to the teachings of the faith by promising to uphold the doctrines and traditions of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, shepherd the congregation with love and care, and adhere to the principles of servant leadership.

The consecration ceremony was conducted by a panel of existing Bishops, representing the broader church authority. They laid hands on Rev. Gerald Mugo, symbolizing the impartation of the Holy Spirit and God’s Authority for his new role as Bishop.

Deacons and Deaconesses play a crucial role in providing pastoral care and support to the members of FGCK Meru Town family who may not be easily reached through other means of ministry. The church is organized into Zones, specifically Gakoromone, Kooje, Gitimbine, and Diaspora, to cater to different segments of the congregation.
